MetaTrader 5 (MT5) is the platform you trade on at VexPro, and one of the most widely used in the world for a good reason: it brings together in a single environment market access, analysis charts, order execution, and the management of your account. It is available for desktop, web browser, and mobile, so you can follow your trades wherever you are. Getting familiar with it is an essential step.
When you open MT5 you will see an interface divided into several areas. In the centre are the price charts; on the left, the “Market Watch” window with the list of instruments and their real-time quotes; and at the bottom, the “Toolbox” window, which shows your open trades, history, and account status. Spending a few minutes recognising each area will make everything else much more intuitive.
Before risking real money, MT5 lets you open a demo account with virtual funds. It is the best possible training ground: you trade in real market conditions, but with no financial risk. We recommend spending time on demo until executing orders, placing stops, and reading charts becomes second nature. There is no rush: the market will still be there when you are ready to trade live.
To open your first trade, click on the desired instrument and press “New Order”. A window will open where you choose the size in lots, the order type (market or pending) and, very importantly, the stop loss and take profit levels. Get used to filling in those two fields from day one, always: turning risk management into an automatic habit is one of the best things you can do for your future as a trader.
MT5 stands out for its analysis tools. You can change the chart timeframe with one click, apply dozens of indicators such as moving averages, RSI, or MACD, and draw trendlines, supports, and resistances directly on the price. It also offers 21 timeframes and several chart types —candles, bars, and lines— so you can adapt the analysis to your style. Exploring the “Insert” menu will reveal much of this potential.
One of MT5’s most powerful features is the ability to use Expert Advisors (EAs), programs that automate strategies, and to access a built-in economic calendar. Although automation is advanced territory, knowing it exists gives you an idea of the runway the platform offers as you evolve. You can also sync your configuration across devices so you never lose your charts and templates.
A practical tip: customise your workspace. Save templates with your favourite indicators, organise the instruments you follow, and adjust the chart colours so reading is comfortable. A tidy environment reduces errors and helps you focus on what matters. The more the platform feels like your own, the more confidence and less friction you will have when making decisions.
MetaTrader 5 is a deep tool, but you do not need to master it all at once. Start with the essentials —opening charts, executing orders with stop and take profit, and navigating your account— and add features as you progress. With demo practice and this guide as a reference, in a short time you will move around MT5 with the ease of an experienced trader. The platform will stop being an obstacle and become your ally.
