Majors always include the US dollar against other strong currencies (EUR/USD, GBP/USD) and offer the highest liquidity and tightest spreads. Minors, or crosses, do not include the dollar (EUR/GBP). Exotics combine a strong currency with an emerging-market one (USD/MXN) and tend to move more, with wider spreads and higher risk.
